Bev started her formal training in art over 35 years ago at Wrexham art college, and then went on to study for a BA in 3D glass design. She immediately pursued a career in glass as a self-employed artist and after meeting her husband (also a glass artist !) they opened their own Glass studio business, specialising in contemporary lighting and installations.

A change of circumstances and the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020 led to Bev being advised to shield at home. Unable to leave the house was the opportunity she had been longing for – the perfect excuse to start painting again!

In her first series of pictures she depicted herself as a Goldfish, a representation of how she felt during this difficult time, illustrating her feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Says Bev “My style has always been very free and distinctive using a limited palette and a combination of watercolour with Pen and Ink . I love the fluidity and transparency of watercolour and the use of a pen allows me to express extra movement and feeling with dynamic mark making.

I’m naturally drawn to anything with “faces”, whether they are animals or people, simply because I love the feelings and emotions that they contain. I enjoy the challenge of interpreting new subjects with my emerging and evolving style and palette of techniques”.
