Shane Whitehead : Bronzes

Shane was born in Somerset and spent many years specialising in furniture making in London and Europe before diversifying into the more detailed area of illuminated manuscripts and jewellery.

His interest in metal spurred him onwards and he now owns and runs his own bronze foundry in Wedmore, Somerset. He specialises in Patinised bronzes of nature based subjects and is exhibited in galleries all over the UK and America.

From sculpting to casting and finishing, he oversees every facet of the process, ensuring a hands-on approach that defines the uniqueness of each piece.

Rooted in the art foundry process, his work revolves around animals, aiming to encapsulate their personalities through a blend of form, composition, and geometry. A distinctive aspect of his craft lies in the meticulous use of patination, a skill that breathes life into the final bronze sculptures.
