Having decided to move to Dartmouth 16 years ago with my wife Helen, I left behind a career in the arts in London for the joys of a more rewarding life in this beautiful town by the sea. It was always my hope that at some point I would be able to take on a gallery in the town and nearly 13 years ago, the opportunity to purchase White Sails arose.

The gallery was first opened in 2001, and quickly developed a reputation for exhibiting a striking range of fine art and photography, and has always been keen to represent local artists as well as a broad range of British and international, painters, sculptors and photographers. As it continued to grow in popularity, I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase the gallery in the summer of 2010.

I have used the last 13 years to develop White Sails reputation for exhibiting a wide range of original art by local artists, whilst also expanding the range of high quality Ltd Editions that we supply.

In 2023 the gallery is adding to a collection that now boasts the likes of Richard Thorn, Ray Balkwill, Debbie Boon, Nigel Hemming, Joanna Martins, Jenny Wynne Jones, Michael Storey, Rebecca Campbell, Aaminah Snowdon, Paul Dolman, Inka Gabriel and Nigel Evans, to exhibit new original works by the renowned Devon artist Mike Bernard RI, young local wildlife sensation Annie Drew, acclaimed landscape artist Gillian McDonald, the bold original acrylics of the young french Artho Collective and the striking ceramics of Faye Mayo. They are also exhibiting the very latest originals by Desmond Johnson, Andrew Allanson, Jeanette Smith, Stephen Gedney, Lynda Walker, Val Morsman and David Chambers.

We very much hope that you enjoy your visit to this site and will perhaps have the opportunity to visit our beautiful gallery in this wonderful town, at some point in the future. A warm welcome awaits.
