About White Sails Gallery
Having decided to move to Dartmouth 11 years ago with my wife Helen, I left behind a career in the arts in London for the joys of a more rewarding life in a beautiful town by the sea. It was always my hope that at some point I would be able to take on a gallery in the town and 3 years ago, the opportunity to purchase White Sails arose.
The gallery was first opened in 2001 by renowned photographer Nigel Evans and his wife Elaine. It quickly developed a reputation for exhibiting a striking range of fine art and photography, and has always been keen to represent local artists as well as a broad range of British and international, painters, sculptors and photographers. As it continued to grow in popularity, I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase the gallery in the summer of 2010.
Keen to continue where Nigel and Elaine left off, I have used the last 3 years to develop White Sails reputation for exhibiting a wide range of original art by local artists, whilst also expanding the range of high quality Ltd Editions that we supply.
In 2013 the gallery is adding to a collection that already boasts the likes of Richard Thorn, Kate Wyatt, Sue Howells, Becky Mair, Clare Hooper and photographer Nigel Evans, to exhibit works by local artists Craig Howarth, Ray Balkwill, Annie Drew and bronze sculptor Joanna Martins. We are also exhibiting the very latest originals by Desmond Johnson, Jeanette Smith, Rebecca de Mendonca, Diane McGuinness, Jean May Parsons, June Mead and some stunning new Dartmouth landscapes by artist Gillian McDonald.
We very much hope that you enjoy your visit to our site and will perhaps have the opportunity to visit our beautiful gallery in this wonderful town, in the future.
